Data on the cluster

Everyone has access to two spaces on the cluster:

/bi/home/username
/bi/group/compneur/work/username

Use only the second one for work that is supposed to survive your departure from the group. Do not run simulations or analysis using your home directory.

Whenever possible, check that the permissions on directories and files allow access to all members of the group.

Be sensible in naming the directories. The names must be explicit within the context.

Bad Good
/username/control /username/controlExperiment1
  /username/experiment1/control

Create README files everywhere needed. The idea is that the content of each directory must be understood by someone exploring your files from the top.

Structure of the website

In order to navigate efficiently (find the right information) and quickly (find it in the minimum amount of time), it is useful to have a structured website (of course, you can also systematically use the search. And we can implement tags and categories too). Remember that Drupal allow any number of URL aliases. Therefore a node can be at different places in the page tree.
